Do Salt Trucks Really Blow Their Horns When Spreading Salt?

The salt trucks aren’t blowing their horns.  When the salt truck is making its rounds, it makes a loud electronic ‘buzz’ when it is actually distributing the salt. Some people might think it is a cheap, high-pitched ‘horn’, but it is actually the sound of men at work. It could be a sound that we appreciate because we know when we have to go out, the streets have been treated and will be safer for all.  For many years, most of the streets in the neighborhood were never treated.
