The information below was provided by Northern District Police (2018) because many neighbors have asked about how thieves are getting into cars that are locked. It is still useful in 2023.
- Do not leave ANYTHING of value or not where one can see it. This includes change.
- Hide valuables before you park if possible
-
Car thieves use relay boxes to clone your key fob signals and unlawfully gain access to vehicles
-
Protect your vehicle by placing your key fob in a tin box or purchasing an RFID Pouch.
-
If your vehicle is broken into, contact police at 311 and file a report. If you see it being broken into, contact police at 911 immediately
