Beau Dagenais

BEAU’S OBITUARY

Beau Andre Dagenais passed away unexpectedly on Sunday 31 December 2023, in Baltimore, MD. Beau was born in Wilmington, Delaware on November 24, 1981, to Andre and Susan (Nooney) Dagenais. Beau grew up in Hockessin, DE where he attended Sanford School and was a proud Warrior. He earned a bachelor’s degree in English Literature at The College of the Holy Cross in 2003 and a master’s degree in Liberal Arts at St. John’s College in Annapolis, MD in 2010.

Beau’s parents raised him with a love of learning and family; the visits to his extended family along the East Coast were hallmarks of his childhood. Introspective and thoughtful, he considered his father to be “the smartest man I know.” When Beau was 8 years old, he gave his mother a baseball glove for Mother’s Day so they could play catch whenever she wanted. Cheering on the Eagles and Phillies was a favorite activity to do with his family and close friends, several of whom he met at Sanford and Holy Cross.

To know Beau was to know that he loved big. His biggest joy and pride was the beautiful family he created with his wife of fourteen years, Ashley. His children Owen (age 10) and Penelope, “Penny” (age 7) were the light in his life, and he was theirs. Their days were filled with stories, songs, and sports. Beau became an expert in anything his children loved, from My Little Pony to the B&O Railroad, and he shared his passions with them, most notably his beloved Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.

Beau was proud of his career teaching English Literature to the remarkable young men of the Boys’ Latin School of Maryland, and he enjoyed a life full of books, theater, and music. To make him laugh one of his singular guffaws was the highlight of your day.

Beau’s spirit will be celebrated in countless ways by those who love him, including his beloved parents, his beautiful wife, his children, who were his world, and scores of loving family and friends in New England, the mid-Atlantic coast, and beyond.

A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday 6 January at Boys’ Latin School, 822 W. Lake Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21210.
