TCNA Accomplishments

2024-2025

Special thanks to everyone who made all of this happen.

  • Partnered with the owners of the Broadview Apartments to complete the traffic-calming plan for 39th Street.
  • Helped organize volunteers to design and plant plants and shrubs in tubs/planters on 39th Street.
  • Held a thank-you reception with the Broadview at Cypriana Restaurant to celebrate the completion of the traffic-calming plan
  • Maintained and improved our 4 public gardens and green spaces.
  • Arranged with the city Forestry Division, Department of Recreation and Parks, for 8 new trees to be planted on Cloverhill Road, 39th Street and Tuscany Road to replace trees that died or were damaged.
  • Initiated a request with DOT to conduct a traffic survey on Tuscany Road and later expanded to include the intersection of Tuscany, Canterbury and Highfield Roads.  Engaged Councilwoman Odette Ramos to facilitate an initial meeting that was held on June 3rd with representatives from TCNA, DOT, Councilwoman Ramos’s office and Calvert School.
  • Monitored traffic along Tuscany Road during school morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up and reported issues to Calvert School via the TCNA-Calvert Liaison Committee.  With the school, implemented several changes to reduce traffic congestion.
  • Requested support from Delegate Elizabeth Embry to get final sign-off from the Assistant States Attorney’s Office for the Linkwood Road project.  Start date: TBD but soon.
  • Held an open community meeting to discuss traffic safety issues in the neighborhood that will be included in a master traffic safety plan.
  • Surveyed RPP residents in T-C to determine interest in participating in the new electronic system for permitted parking or remaining with the paper system.  The survey results indicated a desire to remain with the paper system through June of 2026.
  • Negotiated agreements with Gardens of Guilford, Ridgemede/Ridgewood, and Tuscany-Lombardy authorizing TCNA to negotiate and execute a new agreement with Calvert School to replace the existing Agreement of Restrictive Covenants, which are scheduled to expire June 21, 2026.  With members of the Calvert Covenant Renewal Work Group, drafted an agreement which was discussed with Calvert School at a meeting in May and subsequently updated.
  • Negotiated an extended 2-year agreement with Calvert School allowing them to rent out their athletic center to outside independent schools during squash season.
  • Reported 8 street light outages and monitored repair/replacement street lights throughout the neighborhood.
  • Reported issues with trash, loud music and abandoned cars on the Tuscan Hills property (west side of Linkwood Road) to DPW and Councilwoman Ramos’s office and will continue to monitor as the owners, Chasen Properties, have now filed for bankruptcy.
  • Worked closely with JHU to keep neighborhood informed about current and new projects near or in Tuscany-Canterbury.
  • Sent out 6 full newsletters and 23 special notices and alerts to our mailing list of 758 with an average of 75% neighbors opening the emails.
  • Received 25 (as of 5/31) New individual/family members this year.  For the first time in years, the five high-rise condos on Charles Street and Canterbury Road are dues-paying members at the institution level.
  • Resumed First Fridays (now called Meetups) at the Ambassador in February (est. 70+ attended).
  • Increased information on the TCNA website with 217 pages including 10 current photo galleries.
